Reapers Creed MC: Damon's Salvation Read online

I jumped on my bike and decided I wasn’t waiting until tomorrow.
Lyra was sitting on Jordan’s balcony talking to Ani when I got there.
“What are you doing here, Damon?” Ani asked with accusation in her eyes.
“I need a moment with Lyra.” It wasn’t a request and Ani knew it.
“Damon, what do you want? I think I said what I needed to say when I saw you at the clubhouse. I just wanted to say thanks. Now you can go back to your woman, which by the way was very classy.” You could hear the venom in her voice.
My girl was a firecracker and I loved it. Wait … my girl? What the fuck? I didn’t do relationships. I didn’t kiss on the mouth because that’s way too personal and I didn’t do personal. I was never a one-woman man. I liked uncomplicated, one night only, hard and dirty sex. I wasn’t looking for an old lady or a family for that matter. My club is my family and my life was complicated enough as it was.
Club life wasn’t for everybody. We weren’t a full one percent club but we weren’t completely legal either. We ran guns sometimes for different clients because we do transport and security detail. The club owns a farm outside of town, where we grow weed, and we also owned two garages and one titty bar.
I loved my life and I have a lot of respect for the brothers that do this life with a wife and kids in the mix. But that wasn’t for me. I will never have that and I was happy with that knowledge. So why the fuck was I calling this bitch my girl? This was new to me.
I needed to get out of here and I needed to do it fast. I turned to leave but I took one more look at her and simply said, “I really hope you know what you’re doing because if Los Diablos comes to town looking for trouble that’s what all of you are going to find.”
“I’m not with them!” she yelled at me.
I ignored her and jumped on my bike.
I rode around for two hours before I made it back to the club. My dad was waiting for me, and as soon as I walked through the door, he called me.
“What’s up, Old Man?” I knew where this was going and didn’t like it.
“The guys are worried because your girl is in town.” He didn’t beat around the bush. That’s what made him a great Prez.
“Nothing to worry about. I don’t think she’s associated with them. I think she ran away from them, but I’ll keep an eye on the situation and if I’m wrong, I’ll deal with it. It’s not the club’s problem, it’s mine.”
“That’s where you're wrong, Son. If it’s your problem, it’s the club’s problem. So keep it contained.” This wasn’t advice, it was an order.
I didn’t have any more direct contact with Lyra for about a month, but I saw her almost every day. How couldn’t I? She was working in my favorite diner and started hanging out with Ani and my sister, Kat. I had prospects on her twenty-four seven.
We didn’t talk but she was on my mind all the time. I couldn’t touch any of the club women without trying to compare them to her. She was in my dreams every night and my dick was in a permanent hard state because of her.
Gina was getting more possessive every day and I wasn’t having it. I set her straight but it was like she didn’t understand. So, on more than one occasion Lyra caught us arguing and that gave her the wrong idea—that Gina was my woman indeed. I never tried to correct her. It was better that way. That will keep her away from me.
Suddenly one day I received a message on my cell phone from an unknown number:
***Lyra: It’s Lyra. I’m sorry to bother you. We need to talk
***Me: when?
***Lyra: Finish work at 9 tonight
**Me: I’ll pick you up
***Lyra: k. see u then
I was excited, horny, and couldn’t wait. I needed to have her in my arms one more time. Couldn’t wait to kiss those pouty lips and taste that sweet pussy.
Since when did I grow a vagina? I didn’t kiss. I didn’t do relationships. I didn’t kiss. I kept repeating that over and over again. I was trying to convince myself, but it wasn’t working.
While I was taking a shower, I heard a noise coming from my room. I hurried up but when I got out of the bathroom there was nobody there. I pulled on some old jeans and a black T-shirt. I grabbed my cut, my beanie, and walked to my Harley.
When I was leaving the parking lot, I saw Gina talking to another one of the Ravens, or club pussy. They were laughing out loud, but stopped when they saw me. I didn’t know why I had a bad feeling about that but I didn’t give a fuck. The only thing I had on my mind was getting Lyra under me and fucking her seven ways to Sunday.
I entered the diner and looked around but she was nowhere to be found.
“Where’s Lyra?” I asked as I went over to Jordan and kissed her on the forehead.
“She’s gone. She left with Ani in a hurry and I don’t know where to.” I knew she was lying but didn’t call her on it.
I walked to a table and sat. Jordan came over to me with a beer in her hand. After putting it in front of me she said, “Enjoy your beer. Honey, don’t wait for them, they aren't coming back today.”
I wasn’t too happy when I left the place but whatever. How did she dare ask me to pick her up and then leave? She was the one that needed to talk to me, not the other way around. I was hoping to talk to her and clear the air between us. We were living in the same town and she was attached to the club, in a way. The reality was, my dick was missing her too, but he’ll get over it. After that fiasco I decided to go home. I entered my empty house and went directly to bed. I was mentally drained.
We found and rescued three of the women that were abducted. They were in Doc’s house right now getting detoxed. We had to wait to see if any of them could give us some information.
Thinking about everything that had gone down this past week, I fell into a restless sleep.
A hard bang on my door woke me up the next morning. It was a much irritated Leigh.
“What’s up, man? It looks like somebody pissed in your Cheerios this morning.” After I opened the door, I went directly to grab a cup of coffee. I offered one to him and took a seat.
“She’s gone, man. Ani is gone.” He was fuming.
“What the fuck are you talking about?”
“Went to see her this morning and she was gone. According to Jordan, Ani was accepted at the university in Spokane and left this morning with your woman.” He stood up and started pacing the floor.
“Sit the fuck down, man. First she’s not my woman and second why are you so riled up about it?"
“You can say whatever you want, but we all know Lyra is your woman. You are the only blind fucker that hasn’t realized it yet. Anyway that’s beside the fucking point. Things were going better between Ani and me but yesterday afternoon, Marla came into my room while I was taking a shower and got in with me. I pushed her away and when she was getting out, Ani opened the door. She didn’t say a word, man.” He went to my cabinets and took out a bottle of whiskey.
“She didn’t say anything? What are you so pissed about then?” I swear I love this man but I wanted to choke him sometimes.
“Don’t you know Ani by now, motherfucker? Since when does she hold her tongue? She has an argument for everything. She’s feisty and very opinionated, so if she didn’t say anything at all, this shit is worse than any other time before. Last time she caught me with my dick in a random pussy, I told her it was the last time.”
“Why don’t you go and bring her back then?” There was more to the story than what he was telling me.
“Maybe this is for the best, man. She deserves better than me and my dark side.” He took a long pull from the bottle.
“Give her time, man, she’ll come back, brother, and if she doesn’t we’ll go and bring her back. Let’s go for a ride.”
We all needed some time.
Lyra
Growing up it was just my dad and me. We traveled a lot because he was an astronomer. I was homeschooled and never had a friend like most girls. Having Ani in my life was a first,
for me she was my best friend. Never had a real mom either so I guess that Jordan took that place in my life too. That feeling was what encouraged me to ask her for help. For the past week, I have been feeling sick and weak. I entered the kitchen of the main house and found Jordan baking.
“Can you take me to the clinic? I think I caught a bug.” I needed something for this because I couldn’t lose days at work.
“Why don’t we wait until tomorrow and I can make an appointment with my doctor?” She kept beating the mix.
“You won’t mind going with me? I can go by myself if you are too busy.” I took a seat in front of her and started breaking the eggs she needed for the frosting.
“Lyra. How many times do I have to tell you that I’ll always be here for you?" When she looked at me, I saw the truth in her eyes.
These people cared about me. They loved me and I loved them. I finally found the family that I’ve been missing for so long. I was home.
I helped her for an hour then suddenly I started feeling very tired. I went to Jordan and after giving her a big hug, I left and went to bed.
We entered the doctor’s office the following afternoon. As soon as we approached the reception counter I recognized the girl. She was friends with Damon’s woman. I had seen them having lunch together a couple of times. She looked me up and down and then plastered a saccharin sweet smile on her face.
We waited about fifteen minutes before I was called to the back. Jordan waited for me in the front room while I went to see the doctor.
A very beautiful woman entered the room and introduced herself as Dr. Wildner. After the routine questions and checkup, she called her nurse and ordered some tests.
“Laura is going to draw some blood and as soon as the results are back, we’ll talk.” She smiled at me and left the room.
Half an hour had passed when the door opened and Dr. Wildner came back in.
“When was your last period, Lyra?” She was reading the results.
“Around a month and a half ago. I’m very irregular.” I didn’t understand where she was going with this.
“Well. It looks like you are pregnant. Congratulations!” She looked at me with a very sincere smile.
“What? NO. You must have the wrong results. That’s impossible. I've only had sex once in my life and I’ve been on the pill for a year now!” I felt like I was about to faint.
“The results are very clear and by my calculations, you must be around five weeks along. The pills are not always effective. Which brand were you taking?” she asked, looking me directly in the eyes.
“Different brands. I was in a place where I couldn’t get them myself. Some of the women there threw away some packages with some extra pills they didn’t need. So I took them …” I could feel my eyes filling with tears.
“Were the pills white?”
“Most of the time.” What does the fucking color have to do with this?
“Those pills you were taking are placebos. In other words, they were sugar pills. When the package is for twenty-eight days, the last seven are sugar pills. The women take those when they are on their period. It's just so they don’t lose the routine of taking them. Now it makes sense why your cycles were still irregular, you have never been protected. I don’t pry and I don’t judge. You tell me what you want to do and I’ll help as much as I can.” Her eyes were kind.
“What do you mean about what I want to do?” I couldn’t hold it anymore and started crying.
“There are options like adoption and others, a little more radical.”
“What the fuck? I’m not getting rid of my baby in any way possible. It’s my baby.” I sat up straight in the chair and dried my tears.
“Okay. I’m going to send you home with some prenatal vitamins and something for the nausea. I will see you in a month, if you want to continue with me as your doctor.”
I couldn’t stop crying. She asked me if I wanted Jordan to come and stay with me while she was getting all my papers. I could only nod. I felt so overwhelmed.
After I spilled my guts and told Jordan about the baby, the nurse came back with all my papers and we left.
I thought a lot about what I was going to do with my life. It wasn’t only about me, I was now responsible for someone else. The first thing that filled my brain was what Damon was going to do as soon as he found out. There was no doubt in my mind that I was going to tell him. He had the right to know. While I was waiting for the prescription, I took out my phone and shot him a text. He answered it immediately and we agreed that he was going to pick me up at the end of my shift. I was mentally getting ready for tonight while I was getting dressed, when my phone notified me of an incoming message.
***Damon: I just found out you're pregnant. If that’s what you wanted to talk about don’t bother. It’s not mine and I don’t want to have anything to do with that bastard. Leave town now if you know what is good for you.
I couldn’t believe my eyes. That fucking bastard. He knew I was a virgin when he took me. All fucking bikers were the same. How could I have been so naïve, thinking that he was going to be happy to have me and the baby in his life?
I needed to make a plan. I couldn’t stay here in this town and subject my baby to her father’s rejection. My dad was the best part of my childhood. He had been my hero until the day he died. I wanted that for my baby. It was that or nothing at all.
Okay, smart girl, what are you going to do now? I asked myself. As I entered the kitchen at the diner, I noticed Ani was sitting there crying.
“Hey, what’s up with you? Are you okay?”
“I’ve been better,” she answered, wiping the tears from her cheek.
“Talk to me, girl.”
“I’ll talk, if you talk. Because that face tells me you were crying, too.”
I nodded my agreement.
“I went to see Leigh and found him banging this bitch at the club. He promised me last time it wouldn’t happen again. Of course, he lied.”
“What are you going to do?”
“I’m leaving. I got accepted at the University of Washington in Spokane. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it, but the prick makes my decision very easy.”
“Oh. Don’t you think he’s going to go and bring you back?”
“It’s been too long. I should have left his sorry ass a long time ago. And he’s not going to bring me back, because he doesn’t even know where exactly I’m going to be. Okay, your turn.”
“I’m pregnant,” I grumbled. “What?”
“Yup. Even though I’m doing this alone, I decided today that it was fair for the father to know. I sent him a text asking to meet. After he agreed, somehow he found out about the baby and I just received a message letting me know he didn’t want to have anything to do with it.” I dropped in the chair across from her.
“What a moron. Is he from here? Do I know him?" Before I could make an excuse about who it was, she stood up. “Hey, I got an idea. I was going to get an apartment for myself, but I think you should come with me,” she suggested.
“And do what, Ani? I didn’t even finish high school.”
“You can get your GED online and as soon as you have it, you can start college, too.”
“I can try, but I’m going to need to get a job.”
“We’ll figure it out. Are you in?”
“I’m in,” I answered excitedly.
“Okay, we have a week to plan and move. Classes start soon. I’m going home now, but I’ll call you tomorrow. It’s going to be great. I’ll be a college student, and you’ll be a mom.”
As soon as Ani left, Jordan entered the kitchen and said, “I guess you girls are leaving.”
“I don’t know if I can make it. I’m so afraid. I don’t even know how to take care of myself. How am I going to take care of a baby? I’m going to be a terrible mother. As soon as the baby starts talking, she is going to call the Department of Children and Families to ask for a ride to a safe place.”
“My crazy, lovely girl. Y
ou’re going to be just fine. And you can always come back. This is your home now and forever.”
“I love you, Jordan,” I told her as I wrapped my arms around her, giving her a tight hug.
“I love you more.”
It’d been a week since the day we decided to go and start over in a brand new place. It was overwhelming, but we were very excited. We ended up renting a two-bedroom apartment close to the campus. It wasn’t too big, but it was great for us and close to a park. I could even see my baby playing there and being happy. Ani hasn't heard from Leigh, and me … of course I hadn’t heard anything else from the bastard hot guy that invaded all my dreams. I wasn’t too excited about today but I promised Ani that I was going with her for moral support. We were going back to the clubhouse for their monthly cookout. I wanted to stay home but couldn’t think of a good excuse for not going. So I sucked it up.
We got there and there were a lot of people in the parking lot. Kat came running to greet us and pulled Ani aside. I looked for Damon but couldn’t find him. I was wondering where he was. I wanted him to see that even though he was a son of a bitch, I was okay. He was nowhere around though. I saw Jordan talking to a very beautiful woman. They came my way and after being hugged by Jordan, she introduced me to who I found out, was Damon’s mom, Cora. Suddenly the back door of the club opened and there he was with a big guy and trashy Barbie. When she saw me, she jumped into his arms but he pushed her away. He looked in my direction, and after realizing it was me, he stalked my way.
“Where have you been?” He had the nerve to ask.
“Away, like you suggested,” I snapped at him.
“What the fuck are you talking about?” When I was about to answer, the door opened again and an older version of Damon appeared.
He called everybody’s attention and let us know the cookout was cancelled. He called church and disappeared inside again. All the women started picking up the food and taking it to the kitchen.
